IMDL (Irish Music and Dance in London) is a Community Interest Company founded in 2014 by a dedicated team who have been working in the promotion of traditional Irish arts for nearly two decades.

IMDL works to raise the profile of the Irish in London through high quality arts events which are accessible to all. We also work to foster and nurture a sense of community among the Irish here, whilst also maintaining links with the Irish music community in Ireland and internationally. Our work supports the passing on of traditional Irish music, song and dance to the next generation of musicians and enthusiasts in London. To date we have helped to stage Irish arts at a number of profile venues, including the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, The Bloomsbury Theatre, Kings Place, LSO St Luke's, Camden Roundhouse, Islington Assembly Hall, RADA Studios, Union Chapel and more. Our team has also been responsible for running London's annual Festival of traditional Irish music, song and dance 'Return to London Town' (previously 'Return to Camden Town') since 1999.   

IMDL also founded and co-ordinates two large musical projects: 'The Trad Gathering' Youth Project bringing approximately 60 young musicians together for professional performances each year and 'In Good Company' bringing together 30 or 40 musicians and singers at a time for rehearsal and performance opportunities from 80 female traditional Irish musicians based in London who are signed up to the project. 

In addition to hosting and promoting our own Irish cultural events, IMDL does the following:

- maintains and promotes listings of regular Irish music sessions around London

- regularly sends a newsletter featuring Irish music, song and dance events in London

- works with a number of organisations and interested individuals to stage and promote their own events

- sources traditional Irish musicians, singers and dancers for performances, céilís, corporate bookings, film and radio work, parties, sessions and a large number of other engagements.

- helps people find their nearest Irish music teacher in London
